“Teaching Children is an accomplishment; getting children excited about learning is an achievement.” Robert John Meehan
Robokids is a Robotics Club based in Kuilsriver. We specialise in Lego Education robotics lessons that we offer to students in grade R-9 and offer academic tutoring classes for students in grade 1-7. We create the opportunity for students to have access to robotics classes by using LEGO education products. The world of technology is constantly evolving. By doing robotics, the learner will feel confident and empowered to work with new technology.
Our academic classes focus on helping learners improve their language and Mathematics skills.
Our class sizes are small, which creates an environment where kids get the extra attention from an experienced educator. Learners work within a safe, child-friendly environment where staff are passionate about working with kids to enable them to grow.
Our courses are adaptable to suit the needs of the learners. The curricula are set up, with exceptional quality being the focus of each academic booklet and lesson plan. Robokids uses the 4 C’s process of learning developed by LEGO education to encourage learning.
The 4 C’s process
CONNECT
Students are given an open-ended assignment. Their curiosity is sparked, and they will naturally start asking questions based on existing knowledge regarding topics. The connecting phase allows the student to seek for solutions by engaging with peers and the facilitator, while sharing ideas.
This process broadens the learners “knowledge bank”.

CONSTRUCT
The “construct phase” promotes a self-reinforcing cycle of information. At the beginning, learners are given a challenge to build existing objects. The learner then gains experience and knowledge in their minds.
The knowledge gained encourages the learner to construct more advanced prototypes, which forms new information. Through collaboration and communication with peers, Robokids supports working together to find solutions.

CONTEMPLATE
The reflecting phase. Learners have the opportunity to share their opinions, understandings and knowledge gained in the constructing phase. Students are asked questions to explore further awareness on finding solutions.
This phase challenges and develops the student’s ability to use their critical thinking skills to generate new problem-solving ideas.

CONTINUE
Each LEGO task is based on another. This phase keeps students enticed and promotes their self-confidence to approach more fun and complex tasks. Students will feel the need to develop and design new solutions and more sophisticated and advanced work.Robokids believes that learning doesn’t come from instruction, it stems from experience developed through the ability to construct.
Our experienced and trained facilitators, Mrs J August and Ms R Koning, will encourage students to ask questions, embrace the challenge and practice reflection. They will operate and ensure that students receive training through a 21st century learning approach. Robokids aims to help learners improve their collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking skills. It’s the basis to ensure the learners use their skills to their full potential.
Our services are a gateway for the learners to see the potential in themselves to choose a fruitful career path in the future.
